A junior guard for Purdue, Smith has had a remarkable season, earning consensus first-team All-American honors and being named the Big Ten Player of the Year. He averaged 16.3 points, a league-best 8.8 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game. Smith set a Purdue and Big Ten record with 292 assists in a season and became the only player in NCAA history to have at least 450 points, 290 assists, and 250 rebounds in a season.
